Pacifica residents and visitors need more shopping and dining options all over town. Pedro Point Shopping Center is thriving! Sharp Park continues to attract new businesses to Palmetto and Francisco Avenues. But we can do more! Boosting Pacifica's small businesses and hotel occupancy rates will increase tax revenue to close our budget gap and help to maintain our beaches, pier and trails.

Sea level rise is a challenge we respond to with measured, realistic solutions that protect our people, homes, businesses and critical infrastructure. My relationships with state and federal legislators brought $8 million to address coastal erosion and preserve Pacifica's iconic pier. Plans to replace our sea wall and improve Sharp Park Beach are underway. I will continue working to secure federal funds for this critical infrastructure project.

Pacifica has a long tradition of protecting our hillsides, ecosystems, and open spaces. We must continue to protect our neighborhoods from hazardous development in fire and landslide prone areas. The development proposed on San Pedro Mountain is not in keeping with our current ordinances and runs contrary to our values. As outlined in the updated General Plan, new development should be located near shopping and transportation corridors.

Pacifica's pavement condition is the worst in the nine county Bay Area. We have made progress on our repaving projects during my time in office - but we are far from done. I will continue working to attract county and state infrastructure funding to replace our crumbling streets.
